The Bird Whittler

Bird Whittler new update April 24th

Good Morning Glyn, Many thanks indeed for the bird whittling lesson and having the patience to teach me!!! I will get there, in my own little way, with plenty of practice. We both thoroughly enjoyed it thank you and were both full of inspiration and happiness (& wood chippings 😂) on the way home. Nearer the time, If you can let me know when you will be at Samanthas in May or if you are at the Craft Sale on a Sunday in the future I will pop down. Many thanks. Kind Regards Lynne

Thank you so much for spending time with us at Simon Field Farm on Easter Sunday. We have received so many lovely comments about your work and we would love you to come back and demonstrate your outstanding skills with us again very soon. It was a wonderful weekend and your presence in the farm shop really was the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for coming along and displaying your amazing work. Take one individual bird whittler who studied birds in their natural habitats then give him a general purpose Stanley knife, a block of wood (lime) and ask him to whittle a lifelike songbird.

Every mount is individually picked for the bird whittling.
The size shape and position that the bird will take are carefully selected before placing on a wood plinth.

Hi Karen from the USA, I would recommend the Grange and Links Hotel, Sandilands, Sutton-on-Sea for a place to stop and a lovely area to explore Lincolnshire, also I am local if you decide to visit for a bird whittling demonstration.

Thank you for your email Dean and yes I do other bird whittling packs but would advised that you start with a Nuthatch Whittling Pack, if this is your first whittling project, rather than the Blue Tit,  Read more and find new whittling packs

Thank you for your email Sally and yes I have whittled two dolphins from a broom handle and it will be on display at

Whittled in the past

I am always being asked what other birds I have whittled in the past that were challenging, so here is a example:- a whole hand was whittled with a Stanley knife, from a block of lime and the bird added later.

It was done as a wedding present for my niece.
